Street Rods

It’s time to dust off that old project that’s been sitting on the back burner for years. Let RPM transform your car or truck into that beautiful street machine it’s destined to be. This 1955 Chevy pickup had been sitting for almost 20 years before its transformation into what’s called “The Double Nickel” by Custom Classic Trucks May, 2007 edition. The 55 Chevy received a complete suspension and drive train upgrade that included replacing the old straight axle with a ‘74 Camaro front clip with 2” drop spindles and a four link rear suspension with a 9-inch Ford rearend, coilovers and 31-spline axles. To achieve 650 hp., a 355 cubic inch Chevy with a 671 blower and dual 600 carbs were dropped in. The 355 small block is backed by a Turbo 400 with a TCI Street Fighter 2,900-rpm stall converter. The truck was also equipped with four wheel disc brakes, AC, power steering and power windows.
